In Nairobi, Kenya a small charity called the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust provides a haven for orphaned elephants. Through continued efforts from the staff, keepers and elephant foster parents, baby elephants now have the hope of a happy ending.
It is often said that an elephant never forgets. Much like humans, elephants rely on their family networks for survival. So when a newborn elephant is orphaned, most frequently due to the ivory trade, its life support is gone and the terror and isolation it feels is hard to forget.
